 Laura Cingolani (born 1973 in Ancona) is an Italian experimental poet, multimedia artist, and art therapist based in Rome. Much like her frequent collaborator Fabio Lapiana, Cingolani’s practice bridges the boundary between language and physical form, using voice, sound, electronic poetry, and tactile visual arts to explore the limits of human expression.

Sound and Synesthetic Poetry

• Esse Zeta Atona: In 1996, Cingolani and Fabio Lapiana co-founded Esse Zeta Atona, a collaborative performance duo focused on sound poetry. Her performances blend the spoken word, phonetic manipulation, and experimental acoustic layering. 
• The Graphemium: In 2008, she collaborated with Daniele Salvati to invent the Graphemium. This synesthetic, experimental tool directly merges language and text with electronic musical synthesis. 
• Broadcasting & Festivals: Her sonic and linear poetry has been featured at major cultural initiatives such as Roma Poesia, and broadcasted on national cultural networks like Rai Radio 3. 

Publications and Experimental Writing

• Major Poetry Works: In 2019, she published her prominent poetry collection, Mangio alberi e altre poesie (I Eat Trees and Other Poems, published by Edizioni del Verri). The manuscript was highly acclaimed, named a finalist for both the Premio Pagliarani (2015) and the Premio Arcipelago Itaca (2017).

• The Psychology of Art: Cingolani graduated from the Sapienza University of Rome with a thesis on the legendary avant-garde poet Amelia Rosselli. She later trained extensively in art therapy under the psychophysiological model of Professor Vezio Ruggieri.
• Tactile Books: Merging art therapy with tactile visual design, she works on sensory literacy projects. She designed a series of specialized tactile books (using blind embossing and unique paper textures) for the Biblioteca Attiva in Ariccia to make reading accessible to all sensory backgrounds.
